Anyone wanting to reduce weight to get in shape needs to also keep in mind that there are some statistics that have been defined by well-learned people/scientists/researchers/doctors etc on what is ideal and what is not.
The parameters for individuals do vary but what i have attempted here is just to give a generic idea on what is deemed ideal, healthy and obese.
Another aspect or consideration these days is BMI (Body Mass Index), this is gaining popularity these days, as the classification in quite simple and one can very easily know the based they are in.

| Simple calculation for BMI: WEIGHT (KG) / (HEIGHT (mtrs) x (HEIGHT (mtrs)) |
Your Body Mass Index is an important number to use when
assessing how much fat you have and how much fat you have to lose for it is again important because your chances of having a longer and
healthier life are better if you have a healthy BMI, according to
"Essentials for Health and Wellness." You have a higher risk of the
following problems if your BMI is 25 or above: accidents, arthritis, breathing
difficulties, diabetes, gallbladder disease, heart disease, high blood pressure
and varicose veins.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention uses BMI to
define terms like overweight and obese:
Underweight: BMI below 18.5
Normal weight: 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: 25.0 to 29.9
Obese: 30.0 and above. (I am now at 31.83 = Obese)
